Johnson is a doctor of veterinary medicine in the University of Illinois. He has been worked at the University of Illinois, the American Soybean Association, Ministry of Agriculture Feed Industry Center, and the Guangdong Pig Industry Association. He was one of the co-founders of the Agricultural Animal Research Institute of the University of Illinois.
